2024/25 Season Information

Welcome to the 2024-2025 season! Whether you're interested in playing for the Heat as a full-time roster member, as an AP while playing Open/University, or as a U19 hoping to get a feel for practicing at the NRL level, we have an option for you! Eligibility and details below. Let us know if you have any questions, and we hope to see you at tryouts.

FULL-TIME ATHLETES
  • Must be 19 years old by Dec 31, 2024
  • Must participate in tryouts and be able to meet expectations outlined below
Athlete Expectations

APs & U19 DEVELOPMENT POOL
  • Athletes attending tryouts will have first consideration for AP and U19 development pool spots
  • See below for information based on type of athlete
Open A  (19+) - AP
  • If not attending tryouts, submit the expression of interest below by Aug 15 to be considered for an AP spot
  • Cannot exceed 10 NRL games to be eligible for Westerns
University (19+) - AP
  • If not attending tryouts, submit the expression of interest below by Aug 15 to be considered for an AP spot
  • Cannot exceed 7 NRL games between Dec 1, 2023 and Nov 30, 2024 to be eligible for the 2024 University Challenge Cup
  • Cannot exceed 7 NRL games between Dec 1, 2024 and Nov 30, 2025 to be eligible for the 2025 University Challenge Cup
Third Year U19 (18-Year-Olds) - Development Pool
  • This is an opportunity to practice with the Heat to gain NRL experience
  • If not attending tryouts, submit the expression of interest below by Aug 15 to be considered for the development pool
TRAINING OVERVIEW
  • 1-2 weekly practices in each center
  • Minimum 1 weekend camp per month - aiming for Fri/Sat format, typically with 3 practices along with off-ice activities; first one will be a longer camp (Sep 13-15) in Regina
  • Occassional training days may take place - 2 practices on a Sat or Sun with off-ice activities in between
  • Occassional meet in the middle practices during the week (e.g., Davidson)
COMPETITION OVERVIEW
  • 1-2 weekend hubs per month between October and March, taking place across western Canada (schedule still being finalized by Ringette Canada)
  • Nationals: March 30 - April 5 in Ottawa
  • Potential exhibition weekends to fill in competition gaps
TRYOUTS
  • Open format (any athletes meeting above critieria are eligible to try out)
  • Will consist of prep skates, on-ice beep test, fitness testing, skills, and scrimmages (see full schedule below) - all sessions are included in the tryout fee and are required for those vying for a full-time spot, unless there are extenuating circumstances
  • Register by July 31: $150
  • Register after July 31: $200
  • Registration deadline: Aug 15
